While some manufacturers seem to think “women-specific” means pink-and-shrink, the women’s Multi D Bib Shorts are indicative of POC’s insistence on function that meets the demands of uncompromising female athletes. The “bibs” themselves are actually a sleeveless mesh top with a front zipper and full back panel that replaces the decidedly male-centric straps of usual bibs with a bit more support while you’re stretched out on the bars. The four-panel body is also shaped for women, including a higher rear waistband to accommodate for typical women’s jerseys, which tend to be shorter and make for coverage gaps. The shorts are made of a warp-knit material that stretches to conform to your movements in the saddle but gently compresses to alleviate the fatigue caused by vibrations over long days in the saddle. POC claims that the shorts also promote circulation through your engine, which helps to keep the fuel pumping and your body primed for the finale. POC’s Multi D chamois also does its part, supplementing a seamless, highly breathable pad with pre-cut VPDS silicone inserts that are strategically placed to dampen vibration without restricting motion or hampering the variable density foam’s cooling tendencies. The shorts are finished with a radio pocket, a low-profile silicone leg gripper, and reflective elements on the back to help keep you visible in low-light conditions.
